MMAWeekly.com is reporting that Bob Sapp has been pegged by DREAM to replace the injured Gegard Mousasi in the semifinals of the DREAM Super Hulk Tournament.

Mousasi suffered an injury to his shoulder that will keep him from competing in the semifinals at DREAM.11. While not confirmed, it is widely rumored that Mousasi’s injury occurred during his exhibition grappling match with Fedor Emelianenko at the M-1 Breakthrough event last month.

Sapp was an original contestant in the Super Hulk tournament, but lost his opening round matchup against Ikuhisa Minowa at DREAM.9.

Sapp will now take on Rameau Sokoudjou, who defeated Jan Nortje in the opening round. With Sapp back in the mix, Sokoudjou’s odds at advancing to the finals just got a whole lot brighter by not having to face off with Mousasi.

“The African Assassin” should be able to put together back-to-back wins and advance easily to face the winner of the Minowa vs. Hong Man Choi matchup on the New Year’s Eve fight card.
